The US Department of Justice has expressed concern about the desire of former US President Donald Trump to re-assume the post of head of state, CNN reports.
July 10, 2021

According to the department, this could provoke new unrest, similar to the events at the Capitol in January 2021. The former head of the White House said he could return to the post of head of state if the 2020 elections are considered rigged. He stressed that people will have to make their own decision if “hundreds of thousands of stolen votes” are found. “Former President Trump continues to make false statements about the elections, hinting that he can be reinstated as president in the near future without a new election, and thereby belittles the brutal attack on the Capitol,” federal prosecutors said.
They stressed that such statements could provoke a new wave of violence in the United States. The Justice Department concluded that there were no legal mechanisms to reinstate Trump in office, and his suspicions of electoral fraud were completely refuted.
Earlier, Trump said that he had made a decision to participate in the 2024 elections. He answered “yes” to a journalist’s question about his possible participation. “Not that I want it. The country needs it. We must take care of this country. It’s not fun, fighting constantly, always fighting, ”added Trump. However, some of his party members fear that in this case, he could potentially harm moderate Republican candidates participating in state races, or renew discussions about his role in the riots at the Capitol on January 6.
