According to the department, this could provoke new unrest, similar to the events at the Capitol in January 2021. The former head of the White House said he could return to the post of head of state if the 2020 elections are considered rigged. He stressed that people will have to make their own decision if “hundreds of thousands of stolen votes” are found. “Former President Trump continues to make false statements about the elections, hinting that he can be reinstated as president in the near future without a new election, and thereby belittles the brutal attack on the Capitol,” federal prosecutors said.
